Reading From The Heart
Throwback to 2018...
About a year ago, Jacob was very apprehensive about making his First Communion because he was afraid he was going to have to read in front of everyone. I assured him that was something purely voluntary and he would not have to. He was not a very confident reader. Well, as the date approached, and the teachers asked for volunteers, Jacob raised his hand. I was surprised at his courage. I knew I could help him prepare. After weeks of preparation, he showed up for rehearsal yesterday to be informed he was given the wrong reading. He didn't back down. He practiced the new one all day long. I was so nervous for him this morning. As he began to read, I could not believe my ears. The strength, clarity, and heart in his voice was something I had not anticipated once he was in front of a full church. His voice was loud, clear, and strong.
